Mira Jana's World of Fashion and Modeling

It is hard to imagine something that is not exist yet, particularly it social media field. There a lot of new web-sites and smartphone applications that are being created every day, so the one you think you create may already exist.
It is common thing that newspapers and magazines has been recently replacing by a huge variety you bloggers in different fields. It is easier for people just to go online and follow the person who writes news about the topic they are interested in. Moreover, it’s free.
I made a quick research through the web-site and application for bloggers and I think the one I want is not exist yet.
For example, you are interested in fashion, big tennis, and marketing. You have to go to fashion blogger’s page you like, then to sport journal blog, and then to marketing association page. It would be much easier if there would be a social media application or web-site, which can convert blogs, online magazines, and professional sites’ news into the the format on a single page. So, you can just open it, choose you favourite bloggers, magazines , and sited and read the news about all of them in the single timeline.
Moreover, it’s hight possible that our future phones will be able to project the display on the table or wall instead of using the screen. Just think about, you are reading the last new on the topic you follow on your bathroom’s mirror, while brushing your teeth in the morning...Amazing, don’t you think so?

I would like to examine how new media impacts e-commerce in my project.
First of all, I would like to have a look at the questions "what is new media?" and "what is e-commerce?", and then how they interact.
I'm going to define new media and describe its history by talking about old media and Web 2.0 development. Next, I' going to define e-commerce and its types and sources.
I'm going to finish by summing up new media and e-commerce in social media marketing, and reviewing major web site and applications, while explaining how e-commerce implements them into marketing technologies.

What have you been doing to contribute to our class wiki?
I have contributed the new material about 3D printing technologies.
What Pages have you created and/or edited?
I edited Fashion Page and created a new one 3D printing.
I have also added one paragraph about New Media marketing to marketing page.
Describe in general terms content you have added.
3D printing or additive manufacturing (AM) process creates a physical object with layers of material, from a digital design. Three-dimensional printing is revolution in manufacturing, that will allow a vast majority of people to start creating things. 3D printing blurring the line between amateurs and professionals. Knowledge of simple 3D Software is all you need to start creating your own things and print them out into the real world. It helps individuals to grow into the business.

If I was hired by Baruch College to use New Media to improve the college experience, I would develop CUNYfirst My Info application more efficiently. You can only see your schedule and list of text books right now. I would add the grades, chat room among classmates, and availability for the registration. That would make this application more useful.

As long as new technologies develop, privacy of new media starts bothering people more and more.  Social network sites makes everyone vulnerable who is registered there, because the audience gets access to you photos, videos, and all the other information you upload. Meanwhile, you can't be sure who is among your audience: your friends, or your enemies. Even if you make an effort to keep your account open and visible only to your friend, you are always at risk to be hacked and you private information are being stolen.
On the other hand, privacy is also a big issue for businesses. The competition is tough nowadays and some companies tries to sneak to others using new technologies, dispite of the fact that this is illegal.
IT companies cares about privacy in seance of providing their customers with best security for both individual users and large corporations.

New Media bring more creativity into our lives. It is digital creativity. There different ways  to use it: upload videos, photo, create music, mashups, projects, and animations with hundreds of modern applications and programs.
1+1`+1=1, the new math of mashups shows us how Jeremy Brown created remix of "Debra", song by Beck, using digital software. He uploaded it on the Internet and reached accomplishment.
Creating mashups using wide known cartoons or TV shows is a good way to reach audience and become famous for some singer. Mashups with Bambi, Simba, and Winnie the Pooh with rap song hit No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 2007, while another mashup of Sponge Bob Square Pants was viewed by more then seven millions.

New Media fosters creativity by creating new opportunities for people to develop and show their individuality.
YouTube allows to record whatever you want and upload it to be viewed by other people and reach accomplishment. Other new medias such as Snapchat and Instagram also allows their users to post 24h videos and monitor the viewers.
You can also create your snapshots of an avatar in Second life with the help of websites such as Voki, Droppleme, and Tizme game. Here my examples:

There are more complex program for 3D creation such Photoshop and AutoCad.
With Photoshop, you can create everything up to real movie and is a good tool for interior designers, architectures and 3D printing.

People have used different tools of visual world to share their thoughts and record their history. Today, the use of visuals plays an increasingly significant role in the world of communication as personal technology from smart phones to tablets, making it possible for anyone to share their view of the world, the instant something happens.
However, these new technology is controversial. There are different pros and cons, which we are going to have a look at.

    Advantages
You can use virtual worlds in education, in delivery services, or as an advanced form of tele-healthcare that offers so much more than videoconferencing. Virtual worlds can give us social connectivity, builtin support groups, and ways to avoid ever being alone again.
Children age 515 own at least half of those accounts—they’re using these worlds for entertainment, social connection, and learning.
Jacki Morie: But Minecraft is a virtual world. It’s digital LEGOs if you will, but it’s a space for kids to exercise their imagination and to connect with others to also want to build and create things.
Virtual reality technology can be used to improve many activities:gaming experiences, virtual prototypes, training programs for military, medical training, psychological therapy, and training astronauts.
    Disadvantages
It is difficult and time-consuming to truly recreate a virtual environment that captures all the details of the real world.
Recent studies have shown that virtual experiences of taking on heroic or villainous avatar might carry over into everyday behavior.
There are obstacles such as better tracking systems, lag time, overlooking basic laws of physics, lack of acuity associated with creating of virtual technologies.

The future world with more developed virtual technologies will definitely make both personal and professional life easier, however it also may make our lives vulnerable.

Today we are comparing Twitter with College Blackboard

For those who used to Twitter social network, Blackboard may seem confusing and inconvenient for communication. However, it has a lot of the same properties. You can create your post, and other people can reply and or quote it. In addition, your post are not limited in number of character as your Twitter post (140 characters). Blackboard also looks more organize. There are created topics by professor, under which students can comment and communicate with each other.

On the other hand, Twitter forces the discussion very quickly, because of the limited length of the post . It allows you to create your own page, when Blackboard offer you to share the page with others. You can also follow different people and give like to the other's posts on
Twitter, while Blackboard is only for classmates.

Advertising, Promotion, and clients communication are my concern about different social networking cites. Let's have a look which site suits which purpose the best.
Twitter basically allows us to create short messaged on our page. You can make twits to let your friends know how you are doing or to let customers know about any news if you are a company. You can tell people about new stocks arrivals, holiday promotions and sales, post images of the best products, or post your advertising flier. All there can easily fit 140 symbols.
Facebook is a social network basically for friends, which recently generated into huge business. By creating your business (or public page) you can promote yourself or your company. You can even by different typed of promotion by Facebook. You create a large page with description, background, and a lot of other information. This pages is not just for news, it represents you and say a lot about toy life. It is easy to communicate with other in long messages.
Youtube allow us to watch millions of different videos. Everyone can record and upload whatever they want. If your video reaches certain amount of views, you can start being paid by Youtube. This website allowed people to create their video blogs, to record their talents and become famous. All companies try to have their commercials on Youtube, and some even pay for their commercials to be shown, as a short inserted video before the one you want to watch. It is not convenient to communicate through Youtube.
Instagram let you to show your life in pictures, as your photo album. This is another good tool for bloggers, because you can write a small article below your post. You can also switch your account to public to promote and view your account statistics. Statistics show use how many impressions, profile views, and reaches you have this week and in comparison to the previous week. It also shows you how your followers are divided by sex, age, and geolocation. Instagram page is good to promote and advertise your private or business page. I think it is amazing to for online store with accessible communication.

Social networking allows us to manage and communicate with our contacts in a totally new way and access information as never before.
Social networking can help people to find their jobs in term of finding an employer or to start your own business by helping you find partners. The bigger site for professional social networking is LinkedIn. Your page on this site represents your resume with past experience and professional skills and it is open to everyone. You can easily find people from your aria of business with the particular occupation. You can find employer or employer can find you.
Another growing phone application is Instagram. It is less professional and more for personal use, however, a lot of businesses and start-ups have already made a lot of profits through promotion and advertising on Instagram. Some people also earns money by cratering their own photo and video blogs via this application.
One more, huge social network, Facebook has generated into making profit for everyone. Everybody can make their own public page and promote it. You can also connect it to your Instagram page and online store (if you have one) to make cross promotion. Moreover, Facebook recently added a new function “sell" to its application, where you can buy or sell anything you want to people who are located around you.
There is a “black side” of social networking as a fault of any other new technology. Randi Zuckerberg was a good example how easily you can get into your own trap. Facebook setting are a little tricky even for site creator’s sister, it is hard to notice the difference between making your photos open to “friends” or “friends of your friends”. Alike situations lead to misunderstanding and arguments.

Privacy is a large rising issue of all mass media nowadays and social networking makes it even more vulnerable. Nobody teaches people how to use social networks properly and safely. Some of our parents are skeptical toward social networking because of old way education, but we are different and this is the point of getting in trouble. “Our kids today will give everything [in terms of personal information] away, but it’s not at all clear how this will shake out in the long run,” says Wharton marketing professor Peter S. Fader. And this is so true. I want to share my example. My friend is a student of USL – the best university of London with the starts students. Once, her department decided to make an experiment, they sent unfamiliar people to the classroom who asked all students to take piece of paper and write down some information about them, which usually is used for banking account. They reasoned that this information is required for the university. All students have written everything and passed papers to those unfamiliar people, without even asking a question. That is how new generation is fearless =)

    Hello,

First of all, I would like to explain my decision to start this communication in blogging form. There are a lot of different ways of communication within new media nowadays. The main competitor to blog is wiki.

Blog is an abbreviated version of Weblog, which is a term used to describe Web sites that maintain an ongoing chronicle of information. A blog is a frequently updated, personal Web site featuring diary-type commentary and links to articles or other Web sites.
Blog is usually launched by one person and the communication occurs in posts-comments (or one-to-many) form. Nobody can change the information except the owner of the blog. Blogger shares his or her opinion with audience. Blog grows slowly and can refer the reader to other web pages.

A wiki is a website that allows multiple users to create, modify and organize web page content in a collaborative manner.
Wiki is created by group of people. It is the best way for business to communicate and share information (as database) within the small group. Everybody can add whatever he or she want. The communication is integrated for group (many-to-many form). It grows rapidly and links one wiki page to another.

I chose to create a blog, because I want to share my individual experience with others. I don’t want any one to modify my posts. The purpose is creating an online journal for random readers.
